Our story

Welcome to Boise Choruses! We are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization comprised of Boise Gay Men’s Chorus and Boise Women’s Chorus, founded in 2013 and 2015, respectively. Now more than 100 voices strong, we perform all over the Treasure Valley, spreading our message of compassion, inclusion, social justice and musical excellence. We are proud members of GALA Choruses, an international organization of diversity choruses founded in 1975 whose affiliates include 190 choruses from the U.S., Mexico and Canada.

We produce three concerts each year, singing both together and separately. Our music comes from a variety of genres and nations, from classical to Broadway, religious to secular, ancient to contemporary. Each year, we produce our own fundraiser, the Boise Choruses Cabaret, to raise awareness of the choruses and showcase the extraordinary talents of our individual singers.

Our mission

Our mission — Opening Hearts and Minds Through Music embodies our aspiration to address social and political issues of importance to the LGBTQ+ community, women and all marginalized persons. Boise Chorus singers are adult volunteers from a broad array of orientations, genders, generations, journeys and spiritual beliefs, all with a passion for creating choral music that moves and inspires. We provide a caring and safe environment for all our members and staff, who are a second family to us.

A significant part of our mission is to increase understanding and acceptance of women and LGBTQ+ persons by building bridges and dissolving stereotypes. To that end, we reach out to our community, partnering with schools, choruses and other organizations and appearing at events like Boise Pride and Women’s Day. The goal is to promote cultural change by sharing our music and telling stories about our real lives and relationships.
